EXCELLENCE THROUGH ADVANCED INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
A Lunt Design, Inc. was incorporated in 1975 by Audrey T.
Lunt, who began research and development on a disposable line of infant hospital
garments in 1975, when a cardiologist at Children's Hospital of Buffalo, NY,
suggested the need for an infant examination gown. After researching the medical
product field, we became interested in the ultrasonic heat seal application of
nonwoven materials. This became Lunt's trademark - the only totally heat sealed
disposable infant exam-wear.
In 1982, Baxter HealthCare Corporation (now known as Cardinal
Health) contacted Audrey Lunt to become their sole manufacturer of disposable
infant shirts, bassinet sheets, receiving blankets, and pediatric gowns. That
same year, Lunt designed and began product of the first disposable physical
therapy shorts for Stanford Children's Hospital in California.
In 1986 A Lunt Design manufactured 10 million disposable baby bibs for a
national distribution company. Also in 1986, A Lunt Design's nursery products
was on the cover of
Nonwoven Magazine,
a leading industry publication, and DuPont featured A Lunt's products in a full
page advertisement.
In 1994, A Lunt Design began the mass production of a male incontinence pouch
for use after prostate surgery for Mentor Urology.
A medical product that incorporates Lunt's heat seal technology and nonwoven
expertise was developed and mass produced starting in 1994 - a Low-Birth Weight
Diaper for 1 to 5 pound neonates for use in international neonatal intensive
care units.
According to Cotton, Inc.,
Lunt developed and produced the first disposable cotton diaper. Another nursery
diaper developed and produced by Lunt was the first disposable phototherapy
diaper worn during the treatment of jaundice.
A Lunt Design continues to be involved in the design and manufacture of
developmental care products for the managed care of preterm infants by NICU
caregivers.
